I bought my Chevelle at the Iola Wisconsin Car show in July, 1996. With the help of a very knowledgeable friend, Dave Reinhardt, we verified that this was a matching numbers stock original car. What we didn't know was how bad the engine was. I drove the car home to Woodbury, Minnesota. She blew smoke like a locomotive and burned a quart of oil every 60 miles! The car looked great because the body was refreshened by a professional bodyman, but it was too embarrassing to drive the car the way it smoked. | ||||
About three thousand
dollars later and many
hours
of restoration work I had a good as
new engine, a rebuilt turbo 400 tranny,
and a car that looked like it just came off the
showroom floor. I bought the car to have fun driving
it but now I had a show quality car that I didn't want to get
dirty. Sooo, I started going to car shows with Dave and got
hooked! Check out the car show
pictures. I
had two great years with the Chevelle before I bought my
Camaro. |
